Undergraduate, Politics and International Relations
About
I am an undergraduate student reading Philosophy, Politics and International Relations at Royal Holloway, University of London. Regardless of the course title my workload (and interests) are considerably weighted to philosophy and political theory, which is just as well as international relations just doesn't grab me in the same way.
My research and study interests include:
- The relationship between metaphysics and political ideology
- The concepts of modern Continental philosophy and how they relate to the political realm
- The rise of the new far-right among the working classes in Britain (with particular interest in the effects of neoliberal policy upon the working class and labour movement)
- 'Animal rights' and the relationship between humans and animals in society
The main thread throughout my interests is the way in which philosophy (in particular metaphysics and ethics) inform both political theory and society. As a lover of logic and reason I am interested in the philosophical fundamentals which come to form political ideology and social policy, and the subsequent effects these have on society.
I already run a more *ahem* political blog, so I would like this to be a space to put up articles, papers and presentations of a more academic nature, both curricular and extra-curricular. Please bear with me while I explore my thoughts, interests and technique.
After my undergraduate degree I hope to progress into postgraduate education.
