Thesis Title: The Musical Press during the Earlier Franco Regime (1939-1951)

About

I have recently finished my PhD thesis at Royal Holloway College, University of London. I now have a Research Fellowship at the Royal Academy of Music, where I research the presence of Spanish music and musicians in 19th and 20th century England. I am primarily interested in the interaction of music with the different aspects of human experience and human society, particularly music and politics and music and gender. Apart from my current PhD project, I am also pursuing research (largely on an informal basis) on music and gender under the Fascist regimes (Germany, Italy, Spain), and music and diaspora in post-Francoist Galicia. Another areas of interest, although still in a very latent status, are the translation of libretti and other texts set in music, and Medieval music.
